Steps to save svg from inscape -

ungroup all levels : object/ungroup ( repeat until it says "no group in selection")
convert object to path : path/object-to-path'
Select all and combine: path/combine
set units to mm : file/Document-properties/page - page size section
set scale to 1 : file/Document-properties/page - page size section
resize to correct size

When loading to Cricut - make sure units are set to mm

set up for mm
